
Long Island is quickly becoming known as “Hollywood East,” and it is the second biggest film location in the region after nearby New York City. Long Island is actually home to two film studios, Grumman Studios and Gold Coast Studios.
While the film studios, as well as a tax credit, have been enticing a lot of productions to choose the location for filming, there are also other reasons that projects might choose to shoot on Long Island. Sands Point Preserve
Sands Point Preserve features three mansions, Falaise, Hempstead House, and CastleGould, with grounds overlooking Long Island Sound. You might recognize this location from the iconic movie The Godfather or from The Wolf of Wall Street.
Old Westbury Gardens
Old Westbury Gardens is an estate that features a manor house, formal gardens, wooded paths, and more. The estate has been featured in over 25 movies and dozens of TV shows. Movies you might recognize Old Westbury Gardens from include Love Story, North by Northwest, Cruel Intentions, Hitch, and American Gangster. The public can tour the house, as well as the grounds.
Fire Island Lighthouse
The Fire Island Lighthouse is located in Fire Island National Seashore near Robert Moses State Park. You may recognize it from Men in Black and What Happens in Vegas. You can visit and climb to the top of the lighthouse, tour the museum, or walk the boardwalk.
Republic Airport
Republic Airport is located in Farmingdale, and you may recognize it from John Wick, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, or Manifest. Today, you can tour the American Airpower Museum at Republic Airport.
Jones Beach State Park
Jones Beach State Park features six and a half miles of ocean beach, one-half mile of bay beach, and the location for several productions you may know, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Royal Pains. Visitors to Jones Beach State Park can enjoy the ocean and bay beaches, two swimming pools, a boardwalk, and the Nature Center.
